Nearest shop, post office and village is one mile away. Take a walk or a jog along the single track road which meanders though a tiny hamlet and passes Macbeth's Well. Stories say that Macbeth made his last stand here in 1057. Within walking distance is ancient Peel Ring (12th century "motte").
30 miles from Aberdeen, 10 miles from Banchory, the area offers a wealth of activity and sightseeing including the Whisky Trails, the Royal Castle of Balmoral where the Queen and family holiday during August and September, the National Trust castles of Crathes, Craigievar and Fraser. There is mountain climbing, hill walking, picknicking in the glens, or in winter try the ski-ing at the slopes of The Lecht or Glen Shee. There are also many golf courses in the area.
During the summer months, you will find Highland Games taking place and many local festivals in the area.
